MY MEDIA SUMMER

My media summer:

During my summer I used the media a lot of the time as a pastime for my journeys as well as a coping mechanism for my emotions. I think that music is a powerful "weapon" as it can fuel how a person is feeling. It is used in many cultures to relax, but can also be seen as a way to escape reality or ease pain.

songs that I listened to were often on repeat for a few days as they reminded me of a particular memory or person that I was reminiscing about. some of the songs I listened to include:
Ain't No Rest For The Wicked by Cage The Elephant- particularly like this song as it is really upbeat and retro, it's also rather infamous for people my age. Cage The Elephant are an American indie rock band who are known for their energetic live performances and eclectic sound.https://youtu.be/U631FGnXDXY
another song which I particularly love is Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, this song is a bouncy post-punk song about two people hooking up. as music was a big part of my summer I had a goal I wanted to achieve in which I listened to different genres of music rather than the classic mainstream charts music heard on the radio. I also attended Reading Festival in August- I saw bands such as The Wombats, Kings of Leon and The Kooks. i particularly enjoyed the Kooks performance as they played songs which id heard before but sort of passively listened to. Both Sweet Emotion and Bad Habit are two songs by the kooks that I really enjoy listening to.

movies; the number of movies I watched was surprisingly low for the amount of summer holiday we had, due to the fact that I spent most of my time outdoors or sailing at the Welsh Harp reservoir, however the movies I did watch included Mamma Mia 2; which is an uplifting summer movie helping you embrace the summer mood which sort of leads you to reflect on your life in comparison to the characters of the movie, such as Donna and the entrepreneurial project she completes; I also watched oceans 8 which is about a criminal named Debbie Ocean who spent 5 years in prison devising the biggest heist of her life.

I don't really listen to the radio in general unless I'm in the car or my parents are listening to it in the house- I'm more of a passive listener with the radio.

my favourite tv series in the summer included Friday night dinner, Gilmore girls and suits. both Friday night dinner and Gilmore girls are solely set in a house, with minimal cast members. They, therefore, must rely on clever camera angles to keep the set realistic and keep viewers interested.

finally, the news, more recently mac miller died of an overdose- only 26 years old, similarly, Demi Lovato also had an overdose but is now healthy and recovering.
this summer was also the hottest ever recorded for Britain with temperatures soaring to 30, 35 daily for 3 months.

  1. Hi, Ruby

A little brief ... try to include as much information as you can in your writing, using key media terminology where possible. Also, as this is media, remember to incorporate images and links to websites, and consider how to maximise visual impact.
