WIRE MAGAZINE:
The Wire (sometimes stylised as WIRE) is a British avant garde music magazine, founded in May 1982 by jazz promoter Anthony Wood and journalist Chrissie Murray. The magazine initially concentrated on contemporary jazz and New Music, but branched out in the early 1990s to various types of experimental music. this magazine would be suitable for my avatar as she enjoys various types of contemporary jazz and rhythm and blues music, you can tell this from the way she's dressed. Her clothes are classic vintage, each with a story behind them; for example her leather jacket once belonged to a harley Davidson tour rider, and cost her £2 from an independent charity shop.
the uses and gratifications theory (Blulmer and Katz) assumes that audiences actively seek out media to satisfy individuals needs. There are 5 different areas of the theory that suggest different possible reasons as to why humans need media; such as an escape route from reality, or as a source of education. My avatar uses media to listen to music, shop and complete work using the internet for information. i think having media in this ever modernising world is beneficial to so many people as it is a great source of connectivity for general life and especially states of emergency such as natural disasters. Media enables your messages to get across to wider audiences within small periods of time.
