Proposal for punk music practice

Image
writing a proposal: to understand the conventions of a professional magazine proposal and apply these to our own practice work. PUNK SOUND Title : I have chosen the title "punk sound" for my magazine as it instantly stands out with the large font and as it contains the word "punk". similarly the style of font can connote a rather gothic genre of music that would attract those who live a lifestyle of punk. the font style i have used is called alice in wonderland- the font gives off Tim burton-esque vibes. Purpose : the purpose of my product is to inform people on modern day up and coming punk (rock) bands, and to inform/educate those who are interested in the music but don't know so much about it. It will also include concert dates and times for venues in North London. Genre : my magazine genre is punk(rock)i chose this genre as i believe in North London its not a favoured genre of music and is sort of shadowed by the music played on modern radio, however ...

WIRE MAGAZINE: The  Wire  (sometimes stylised as  WIRE ) is a British avant garde music  magazine , founded in May 1982 by jazz promoter Anthony Wood and journalist Chrissie Murray. The  magazine  initially concentrated on contemporary jazz and New Music, but branched out in the early 1990s to various types of experimental music. this magazine would be suitable for my avatar as she enjoys various types of contemporary jazz and rhythm and blues music, you can tell this from the way she's dressed. Her clothes are classic vintage, each with a story behind them; for example her leather jacket once belonged to a harley Davidson tour rider, and cost her £2 from an independent charity shop. the uses and gratifications theory (Blulmer and Katz) assumes that audiences actively seek out media to satisfy individuals needs. TARGET AUDIENCES: the uses and gratifications theory : there are 4 different concepts of the theory. the theory assumes that audiences actively seek out media to satisfy individual needs.  the theory looks to answer three questions  1) what do people do with the media? 2)what are their underlying motives for using said media? 3)what are the pros and cons of this individual media use? different areas of the theory: why/ how consume media information ;the theory suggests we use media to find out about relevant events(news, documetaries, print media) and conditions in immediate surroundings, society and the world. seeking advice on practical matters/opinions and decision choices, satisfying curiosity and general interest,learning;self-education and gaining a sense of security through knowledge. personal identity ;finding reinforcement for personal values, finding models of behaviour, identifying with valued others(in the media), gaining insight into ones self. ...

MY MEDIA SUMMER

Image
My media summer : During my summer I used the media a lot of the time as a pastime for my journeys as well as a coping mechanism for my emotions. I think that music is a powerful "weapon" as it can fuel how a person is feeling. It is used in many cultures to relax, but can also be seen as a way to escape reality or ease pain. songs that I listened to were often on repeat for a few days as they reminded me of a particular memory or person that I was reminiscing about. some of the songs I listened to include: Ain't No Rest For The Wicked by Cage The Elephant- particularly like this song as it is really upbeat and retro, it's also rather infamous for people my age. Cage The Elephant are an American indie rock band who are known for their energetic live performances and eclectic sound.https://youtu.be/U631FGnXDXY another song which I particularly love is Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, this song is a bouncy post-punk song about two people hooking up. as music was a...

Media research north London music scene: North London is an informally defined part of London which covers some of the capital lying north of the River Thames.   North London extends from clerkenwell and finsbury on the edge of the city of London financial district, to greater London's boundary with Hertfordshire. the area North London covers is defined differently for a range of purposes- common to these definitions is that it includes districts north of the river thames and is used in comparison with south and central London as well as east and west London. London boroughs can also be identified by their postal codes such as nw2,n2 and for central can be EC to say east central. within London there are many famous and infamous music venues that can vary greatly in size. When i think of London music venues camden as an area comes to mind as quite a unique and trendy place for music, as it is home to the roundhouse, but also some ...
